Week 25: After Anna Bilinska, by Sunnyside

After Anna Bilinska, by Sunnyside, charcoal on toned paper, June 9, 2022

As usual, I did not have the right kind of paper or the time to tone with watercolor, so I used gray toned Strathmore drawing paper and toned with colored charcoal. Unfortunately, this paper was not a good choice because I could not push the charcoal around easily, which is all the fun. I also had to adjust her hairstyle to accommodate the blob of buffalo chicken wing I splattered behind her head. Lesson learned! 🙂

Thanks for Visiting 🙂

Your ‘oops’ reminded me of a favorite story. A friend’s mother, an accomplished artist, once gave me a winter scene painted with acrylics on hardboard. I loved it, especially the little red cardinal tucked into a snow-covered tree. When I commented about the bird later, she laughed and laughed. That ‘bird’ actually was a blob of red paint she’d dropped into the painting, and decided to leave rather than smearing it about or trying to paint over it.
