I was astonished to see the date on this painting. At first glance, I assumed it was quite modern – or at least more modern than 1818. I think it was the hair that gave that impression.

One of my favorite paintings. Jamie Wyeth has a similar painting of the Wanderer in front of a lighthouse. All based on Alain Fourniers iconic book.
