I just picked up my first book by this author at a local thrift store here in America ~ and all of a sudden his name is everywhere! The book certainly did paint a wonderfully nuanced portrait of a culture in some ways so alike to and in others so different from our own, highlighting both the transient and eternal aspects of ageless social movements. When one finishes reading, one feels that one has visited his country much more thoroughly than one could ever actually do oneself.

Thank you, Ana. I have added him to my reading list based on your review, as well my curiosity after learning just a tiny bit about him in the video. I really appreciate your input. 🌻
