André Brasilier (b.1929 – ), L’hiver bleu à Loupeigne, oil on canvas, signed André Brasilier (lower right); titled L’hiver bleu à Loupeigne, signed André Brasilier and dated 2015 on the reverse, executed in 2015, 130 by 163 cm; 51 ⅛ by 64 ⅛ in., Image Source: Sotheby’s
Dvorak Piano Quintet No. 2 in A major, Op. 81, B. 155, Tobias Feldmann, So Jin Kim, violins; Muriel Razavi, viola; Uladzimir Sinkevich, cello; Jinsang Lee, piano; 2019 Yeosu International Music Festival & Ensemble
The opening of the Dvořak sounds like the hymn “Shall We Gather at the River?” I wonder if that’s a coincidence or whether one composer was influenced by the other.
The cellist is terrific, and the rest of them match up to him – tender and passionate in turn violins, viola, and piano. I love chamber music and always enjoy the clips you post. The painting is exquisite.
Great post. I had never heard of Brasilier and love his work. I love the Fauves and his work seems to me to have a little naivete to it also. I’m thinking of the horse racing paintings. Thank you for posting and exposing us to such great art. 🤩Thank you also for your caring comment on my post which I will address tomorrow, God willing. It meant a lot to me.🙏🏽❣️
I am happy you enjoy this, Ellen. Learning more about the intriguing style of the Fauvist painters is one of my goals for the coming year. Wishing you a day filled with warmth, comfort, and love. 💞💞💞
Thank you. I listened to the entire piece this morning while getting my orders ready. I had not heard it before. It was wonderful, as is the painting.

This one is new to me also, Sheila. They lulled me in with that lyrical beginning, then POW! lol I am happy you enjoyed this, too. 🙂🌻
