The face, arms and hands look like a photograph, heightened as a focal point by the impressionist treatment of the garment, the fan and background.

The contrast is so striking that the face, arms, and hands almost look pasted on. I wonder why the artist chose to vary the technique like this…? Thanks for your thoughts, sienablue. 🙂
