    I can’t remember seeing chickens in the field in other paintings of hay harvest. I wonder if free range chickens were the thing in his place and time, or if he just liked chickens and decided to add a few to the scene.

    1. Good question. I am a big fan of free range chicken eggs, but I don’t know how they farmed back then. They certainly do add charm to the painting. 🙂🌻🐔
