Exhibition: French Impressionism from MFA, Boston

Claude Monet (French, 1840-1926), Camille Monet and a Child in the Artist’s Garden in Argenteuil, 1875, oil on canvas, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Image Source: wikimedia

“Camille, Monet’s first wife, is shown with a child in the garden of their house in Argenteuil, near Paris, where they lived between 1872 and 1877. The shimmering reds, blues, greens, and white that capture the brilliance of a sun-drenched day are applied with many small brushstrokes, whose varied shapes create the different textures of flowers, grass, and clothing.”

    1. According to google, he had two children – Jean Monet (1867–1914) and Michel Monet (1878–1966). I thought he had a larger family, too. Thanks for visiting and sharing your thoughts, hilda5462. 🌻

Hmm, well I looked into this some more and found that his parner who he had those 2 kids with actually came into the relationship with 6 kids of her own – so that’s probably the reason why I (and you) thought THAT!!! Though I did also find that Camille Pissaro and his wife had EIGHT…..so it could be him I was thinking of!
