    This is a different side of Prendergast from what I’ve seen. His fearless attack with brush and pigment awe me, like Van Gogh does. Look at how brazenly he outlines the pitcher! His flesh tones for the face diverge only slightly, if at all, from the background. The hat! Painting like this vibrates all over.
