Another one I’d never seen. She’s so often associated with the southwest and deserts, I was surprised to see her using seaweed as a focus. Of course, her location at the time played a role, but the approach reminded me of her later flower portraits.

Her color schemes seem so raw to me, abstract as this one is, it seems to reveal something visceral, almost otherworldly.
