This is a delightful version of Nutcracker. Baryshnikov was a magnificent dancer. I saw him perform in Vestris in the 1970’s. He bounded into the air, hovered there and at his ‘convenience’ landed on the floor. Absolutely astounding. At the end of his solo, the auditorium remained totally quiet, to burst into applause seconds later. I will never forget this moment of theatrical magic.
Theatrical magic, indeed! I hold my breath just watching him on video. How wonderful for you to see him perform in person! Thanks so much for sharing your memory, Yvonne. 😎
I so love see Baryshnikov dance. I first saw him in the movie White Nights. And have adored him ever since. Somewhat later he danced in New Zealand, and naturally I booked seats. ! will watch the video when feeling a little better.
Thank you! I have this bookmarked so I can watch it when I have time to sit and really enjoy it. But even in the background, I will love the music. It really brings home the season. ❤
I only made it to the fifty minute mark so far, but will reward myself this evening with the rest. (unless life gets in the way, of course!) Have a great week, Sheila. 🙂

You reminded me to listen to my favorite Christmas song from the Nutcracker, the March! It’s too short. I listened twice.
