We’ve lived to see the Soviet Union collapse, which for the first half of my life seemed unlikely. (Unfortunately a dictatorship quickly came back.) Maybe now we’ll get to see Iran’s theocratic dictatorship collapse, too, and hopefully not soon come back.
Thanks for honoring the remembrance of Mahsa Amini with your beautiful sketch. In our modern technological civilization, it’s unbelievable that a woman’s mere act of letting her hair blow in the wind can become a revolutionary act, punishable with death!
The government seems to be following their traditional playbook: internet disruption, massive numbers of arrests, violence. We’ll see if it’s enough this time.
